This page is about
Reiki healing.
I provide Reiki healing sessions and training in all levels of
Traditional Usui Reiki.
Reiki (pronounced "ray-key") can be an effective
pain and stress reliever as well as being a helpful adjunct to more
conventional medical, psychological, or spiritual care. Please
scroll down for answers to several questions about Reiki and Reiki training.

What is Reiki? |
- Means
"universal life force" and works on the invisible field of energy
all around the body.
- Is an ancient
healing method brought to the continental U.S. in 1973,
- Is
noninvasive and involves light touch on a fully-clothed body,
- Evokes deep
relaxation, which can facilitate spiritual healing,
- Can help
integrate body, mind, and spirit,
- It's so easy
to learn--I've taught young teens--but it is very effective.

What happens during a Reiki
session? |
- Treatment can be in a
chair sitting up or on your own bed but most usually on a
treatment table in a comfortable room dedicated to healing,
- Reiki involves laying on
of hands in a basic pattern so that all of your vital organs and
chakra energy centers receive balancing energy,
- A session usually lasts
one hour, although even 5 minutes can be beneficial,
You will probably
become deeply relaxed, evoking a relaxation response, which in
itself is healing,
- The balancing energies
usually continue to work after the session is completed.

Who uses Reiki? |
- A number of chaplains use
Reiki with their patients. (One chaplain informed me he found it
particularly beneficial in minimizing the drug dosage for pain
relief, thus improving alertness and quality of time spent with
families.)
- Some progressive nurses
and doctors use it professionally! Those wanting to assist ill family members, friends, or
pets,

What do professionals say about
Reiki? |
Dr. Andrew Weil:
"energy medicine [including the energy produced by energy healers]
is going to be one of the major medical developments" of the 21st
century. ("Prevention", January 2000,
- There is a nursing
diagnosis of "energy field disturbance" which specifically
relates to Reiki and other energy healing modalities,
- Dr. Bernard Grad (McGill
University): Showed that energy healing (of which Reiki is one
type), counteracted induced thyroid dysfunction and resulted in a
significantly faster rate of wound healing than controls,
- Dr. Bernard Grad:
healer-treated plants had a higher chlorophyll content than
untreated plants. (See the book, "Vibrational Medicine",

Tell me about Reiki Training |
- Reiki I and
Reiki II classes are generally one day each but may be broken up
into smaller segments of a few hours a day within a single week.
- Class size is
small so individual needs can be met.
- Is
Traditional Usui Reiki training which follows the pattern of hand
positions taught to me by my Reiki I and II teacher, John Harvey
Gray (one of the original U.S. Reiki Masters).
- Classes are
periodically scheduled, but most of my students or are arranged
based upon our mutual schedules.
- Reiki III and
IV are master level classes which involve 1-2 days of class and at
least six months of apprenticeship (including attending some of my
classes) for completion.
|
| |
How much does it cost? |
- A single Reiki session
costs $60. A distance healing session costs $30.
- Reiki I training is $150;
Reiki II training is $300.
- Discounts, paying on
time, or other special arrangments may be possible depending upon
the circumstances,
